>OSU FINDING AID: LABANOTATION BOOKS IN HUNGARIAN

This is a finding aid for Hungarian dance, primarily folk dance, but also instructional materials in Labanotation and some dances of ethnic minorities living in Hungary. Some books are individual volumes, and some are in series. Most volumes include text (folk dance research), music, and dance notation (Labanotation). Dates range from 1953-2001. The focus of this collection is everything published that came out of Hungary and included notated materials. The last section of the finding aid lists books from several other European countries.

These materials were collected by Lucy Venable through Mária Szentpál and later János Fügedi and were donated to the Dance Notation Bureau collection at The Ohio State University. The collection is open to the public but must be used in the OSU Lawrence and Lee Theatre Research Institute.
