Should our discussions about notation be dictated by technology? I say no. For example, Ann’s Ex. 1d (my 1a below) does look a little strange. But in Ann’s 1e (my 1b) the equal sign has been lowered to accommodate the “any” symbol. Why can’t the equal sign in 1a by lowered to accommodate the dot?
